ECHO Ranger Program Explores Ormond Beach

Volusia County's ECHO Ranger program is gearing up for another exciting, educational and fun filled season of adventures. The word ECHO stands for Ecological, Cultural, Heritage and Outdoor opportunities. Girls and boys who sign up to become ECHO Rangers are able to visit scheduled program sites throughout Volusia County to learn about community resources. ECHO Ranger sites include local parks, museums, historical sites and the former home of one of the world's richest men. The program is designed for schoolchildren, homeschoolers, boy and girl scouts, religious groups and others in grades 1-5. The cost is $20 per child per season. Entry fees to all sites for the ECHO Ranger candidate and one adult are included in the $20 fee. The program is coordinated by Volusia County and the staff of DeBary Hall. Signups began in June and activities are offered from September 2013 to May 2014. The Ormond Beach program will offer three sites on Saturday, September 21, 2013 and Saturday, March 22, 2014. Activities begin in the morning and continue through the early afternoon. Included are The Casements, former home of John D. Rockefeller, the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens and the Anderson-Price Memorial Building, home to the Ormond Beach Historical Society.
